Most automations fail quietly: a step errors, nobody sees it, and a month later a customer notices. I score tasks to pick the first three worth automating, then build them with a readable log, retries, alerts and a visible place for failed items.
What I build
- Lead capture, follow-up triggers and status notifications
- Scoring and routing pipelines with the inputs stored next to each result
- One event fanning out to email, a log and a CRM
- Scheduled jobs in code when a visual workflow stops being the right tool
How the engagement runs
A written scope first, then fixed-price milestones with acceptance criteria, weekly demos on a live staging link, and handover documents. The full process is on How I work.
Proof
- PodVerified: Zapier and Airtable automation that scores podcast guests across Authority, Influence and Performance for a guest-to-show matching platform.
- Make My Hypno: Produces a personalised hypnosis recording end to end: a generated script in the client's own cloned voice, merged with real pre-recorded intro and outro.
Questions
Zapier, Make or n8n?
Zapier to start fast, Make for branching at lower cost per operation, n8n for control and volume. Check current pricing on their own sites.
How do you stop automations failing silently?
Every run is logged, retries and alerts are defined, failed items are parked in a visible view and every item has an ID so a retry never acts twice.
